Uttarayan Celebrated As Kite Festival In Gujarat

GUJARAT, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- India is a country that celebrates a plethora of festivals all through the year. People hailing from various religions celebrate their own religious customs and rituals during various parts of the year. Uttarayan also known as Makar Sankranti is celebrated as Kite festival in Gujarat. This year, the auspicious festival is being celebrated on Jan 14. A lot of people join in the festival and even tourists from various countries enjoy the fun of watching kites of various hues coloring up the sky. The chief minister of the state formally inaugurated the festival three days back. This is the 20th year for the festival. The Sabarmati riverfront was decorated for the festival accordingly.
The kite enthusiasts from various countries gathered together at the venue before the ceremony was inaugurated. The Singapore pavilion stunned the viewers after flying a kite shaped as woman. The Indonesia pavilion showed off a nice eagle shaped kite. The kites shaped as various animals adorned the sky and it was a visual delight for the viewers. Some of the participants who took part in the festival for the first time were delighted. They came to know that the original name of the festival is Uttarayan, which is celebrated as Kite festival in Gujarat.
The enthusiasm of the participants was palpable at the ceremony. The kite lovers of India bonded big time with their foreign counterparts. Uttarayan is seen as a festival of happiness. However, it is celebrated as Kite festival in Gujarat. The city of Ahmedabad wears a different look during the festival.
