NEW DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The Surya Grahan, or the solar eclipse 2010 in India will start around 1.20 p.m. in Jan 15. It will be an annular solar eclipse. People from all over the subcontinent will not be able to view the solar eclipse, as it will be visible from only some selected parts of the country. People from certain other parts of the world will also be able to view the solar eclipse, like those in parts of Africa, the Middle East, and also some other parts of Asia, like China, North Sri Lanka and Burma. In India itself, the inhabitants of Southern Tamil Nadu and Southern Kerala will be able to see the eclipse.

The Surya Grahan, or the solar eclipse that will start around 1.20 p.m. in Jan 15, 2010 in India is considered to be one of the most important solar eclipses as it will be taking place on the day of the Pongal. The solar eclipse will be entering in its greatest point a little after 7 in the evening, 7:07:39 to be precise. If viewed from Jaffna, the solar eclipse will be visible for 10 minutes and 8 seconds. It will also be visible from Sacramento and Pennsylvania, though on the next day.

The Surya Grahan or the solar eclipse is being touted as the longest solar eclipse in the whole of the last millennium. It has been said that the eclipse will be first seen in the southern parts of India, in Tamil Nadu to be exact, and then will move on upwards. It will be seen last in the north-eastern region. The Jan 15 solar eclipse 2010 in India will start around 1.20 p.m. and will take place at a magnitude of 0.9190.
