Security stepped up for Mahakumbh Mela in Haridwar

HARIDWAR - Security has been tightened in Haridwar for the ‘Mahakumbh Mela’ that commences formally tomorrow.
The paramilitary forces have been deployed along with the state police for security purpose.
“At ‘Har Ki Paudi’ we have deployed paramilitary units and commandos along with Uttarakhand police force. The Rapid Action Force (RAF) is also there. Being the center of the event, ‘Har Ki Paudi’ deserves high security. We are checking each and everyone indiscriminately at every venue,” said Alok Sharma, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) commanding the security arrangements for the Kumbh Mela.
“Information regarding, any suspicious and unattended item is being responded to immediately. Security personnel are very competent. There is also an Anti Sabotage Team from Central Information Bureau which has been deployed,” added Sharma.
The Mahakumbh Mela will be managed by Uttarakhand State Government, which would establish a temporary city called ‘Mela Kshetra’ measuring 8X48 kilometres. It will have 31 police stations and 36 fire stations. (ANI)
