NEW YORK - Forgetting the freezing temperature, many people in New York hit the trains, stations and subways without their lowers on the ninth annual No-Pants Day.

The occasion left people who were didn’t know about the tradition dumbfounded as they encountered people take off their pants in small groups on the city subway.

“I thought something was up when I saw a Speedo on the platform. It makes people laugh it’s good. That’s it. I’m taking my bra off!” the New York Daily News quoted Sandi Rabinowitz, traveling in a train, as saying.

A group called y Improv Everywhere organized the procession, where practical jokes were carried out.

The majority of the people celebrating the event were youngsters.

They met at Foley Square and at other points in Queens and Brooklyn.

Jonathan Sanders, a 24-year-old Staten Island man wearing a t-shirt, light sweater and black tighties, said: “I woke up this morning and sensed it was going to be a good day for not wearing pants. Hey, I look good like this.”

The pranksters’ parade ended in Union Square, with self-proclaimed pants fanatic Melina Davis, welcoming them with posters that read “God Wears Pants!”

She shouted: “I love pants and I love God.”

She added: “This is not a good look. People look at your cellulite. Put some pants on!” (ANI)
