MELBOURNE - A new survey has revealed that Aussies are under constant pressure to stay thin, as they believe excess weight seriously impacts their sex lives.

The research has shown that a majority of people Down Under have tried to lose weight at least once, with more women than men.

About 40 per cent of them felt constant pressure to be thin. They also fear that being fat could affect their performance at work.

The Readers Digest survey included 6000 people from 16 countries around the world.

Australians appeared to be the world’s biggest worriers when it came to weight and how it affected performance in the bedroom.

Nearly 52 per cent of the respondents said excess weight “seriously impacted” their sex lives - more than any other country except Mexico, which came in equal first with Australia, reports News.com.au

Eighty-one per cent of Oz women have tried to shift the kilos at least once, as well as 63 per cent of men - ranking Australia fourth among the 16 countries surveyed.

Finland, the US and the Netherlands were the only countries to rank higher.

The Chinese are the world’s biggest diet pill poppers, with 37 per cent having admitted to trying them, compared to just 20 per cent of Australians.

The survey also showed that 22 per cent of Australians blamed their parents for their size, compared to 70 per cent of Russians. (ANI)
