Mumbai dance bars raided, 55 girls and 66 customers arrested

MUMBAI - At least 55 bar girls, mostly teenagers, and around 66 customers were arrested when a team of 200 policemen raided two dance bars in Mumbai, during the early hours of Sunday (January 10).
At around 1.30 am, a team of policemen raided the Commander Dance bar in the Chembur area. The police arrested 36 bar girls, 31 customers and 12 staff members, including the bar manager from the bar.
Immediately after that, the team headed towards Natraj bar at Ghatkopar region at around 2.30 am, which is considered a hub of bar dancers.
The police broke through the doors on the ground and first floors of the building that housed the bar.
After searching the place for two hours, the team chanced upon a dingy storeroom where 19 bar girls were in hiding.
The cops detained around 35 customers from the bar and over a dozen staff members. (ANI)
