Japan seeks strong ties with India in Information Technologies

MUMBAI - Japan’s Internal Affairs and Communication Minister, Kazuhiro Haraguchi, has said that his country wants to strengthen its relationship with India in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).

Addressing a round table conference on ICT and environment in here on Friday, Haraguchi emphasized on a joint project around Delhi and Mumbai in order to strengthen the relationship between both the countries.

“For strengthening the relationship between Japan and India, in field of ICT, I would like to see the implementation of activities in a concentrated manner. This includes joint projects around Delhi and Mumbai…”he said.

Meanwhile, citing certain examples from Japan’s best ICT implementations, group CEO of Team India Advisory Limited, Vipul Kant Upadhyay said that India is looking towards Japan as an ultimate partner to become the world’s biggest ICT infrastructure power.

“India is at the verge of becoming the world’s biggest ICT infrastructure power. It is a right time that the concept of green governance is also initiated when we are talking of smart governance and e-governance. At this point of time, the concept of smart governance also dubbed with the green governance comes in. Then obviously there would be lot of requirement for proving concepts across the world which have been accepted, implemented and that’s where we can look towards Japan as an ultimate destination, as an ultimate partner.” said Upadhyay.

Leaders from both India and Japan in the field of Information and Communication Technologies participated in the conference.

Earlier, during a meeting with Minister of New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah, the Japanese Minister had signed an agreement to develop a ’solar city’ in India and also strengthen the bilateral cooperation in Research and Development for promoting renewable energy. (ANI)
