Trendy light-weight jewellery exhibited in Chennai

CHENNAI - If you are fond of wearing gold ornaments, you may enjoy visiting Chennai where designers exhibited trendy lightweight jewellery on Thursday.
Besides expensive varieties, there were ornaments made in gold of less weight to bring them within reach.
“For this fare, we have made many dainty products including the gold which can be in 10 grams now is in three grams. Now easily you can tap your pocket for that. Formerly, it was 10 gram now it is three gram,” said Yogesh Shah, a member of the Madras Jewellers and Diamond Merchants Association, in Chennai on Thursday.
The lightweight jewellery is gaining ground with innovative designs.
“As the gold prices going up. There are three things happening. People are coming up with innovative designs. So there is lightweight jewellery coming up from Kolkata and Kerala specially. That is why there are six people from Kolkata coming into Chennai market,” said Kranti Nagvekar, gems and jewellery analyst.
The Madras Jewellers and Diamond Merchants Association conducted the show with models wearing the latest trendy ornaments.
Nearly 40 percent of Indian gold jewellery exports go to the United States. Other major markets for jewellery and diamonds are Hong Kong and Belgium. By Jaikumar (ANI)
