Australian national arrested for firing at a youngster

VISAKHAPATNAM - The Visakhapatnam police has arrested an Australian national on charges of attempt to murder, after he shot a local youth from his air gun.
Robert Jestin Lewis, a 31-year-old marine engineer had been staying in Pratima Paradise Isle on Beach Road for the past few months.
On Wednesday night, Lewis reportedly had a party with his friends at his residence and later picked up an air gun, and fired at the outer parapet wall, but the bullet hit a local youngster Santosh.
“Police arrested Lewis on Wednesday night around 10:30 pm. He reportedly had a party with his friends on the terrace of his 10-storey apartment complex,” said Circle Inspector CSV Prasad.
Lewis later picked up an air gun and fired at the outer parapet wall, the pellet got deflected and hit Santosh who was going on the Beach Road,” he added.
Meanwhile, the police have launched an official probe and registered a case under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code on Santosh’s complaint. (ANI)
