GWALIOR - Gwalior based Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (ITTM) has trained 700 guides for the upcoming Delhi Commonwealth Games.

The candidates who were trained under a guide-training programme were recently awarded certificates on completion.

The freshly trained guides are now competent to address various queries from tourists and other visitors during the games.

“Considering the Commonwealth Games, we were trained on how to answer the queries of tourists like which are the proper hotels and what are the various available facilities. We were also trained on how to answer various problems of the tourists,” said Sweta Singh, a trainee.

Another successful trainee guide mentioned that they were trained to enlighten visitors about various places of tourist interest.

“Tourists who will come for the Commonwealth Games will also like to travel to places of tourist interest. Guide can play a vital role in this regard,” said Bijendra Sharma, another trainee.

The Commonwealth Games 2010 in New Delhi will be India’s first major international sports event after the 1982 Asian Games. Earlier, Delhi had hosted the inaugural Asian Games in 1951 and again in 1982. (ANI)
