PANCHKULA - A Panchkula court on Wednesday rejected the anticipatory bail plea of former Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) SPS Rathore.
The court said no anticipatory bail would be given to Rathore till January 1.
With this, Rathore who was earlier handed a six months jail sentence for molesting Ruchika Girhotra may be arrested soon.
Rathore had filed bail application after two fresh cases were filed against him.
The court, however, reserved its order because it had not received a copy of the FIRs.
Speaking to reporters, Rathore’s lawyer wife Abha Rathore blamed the media, for blowing up the case and launching a trial of its own.
She said Rathore was innocent and that the reason behind not receiving the copy of FIR was a conspiracy of the police.
A grim-faced Rathore, who was seen for the first time after nine days, came to the Panchkula Court to seek bail, but refused to speak to the media despite repeated attempts to get his version of the story.
Ruchika’s family lawyer Pankaj Bhardwaj said Rathore did not have too many options left with him.
Meanwhile, Aradhana, who has been fighting on behalf of Ruchika’s family for 19 years said: “For the past 19 years, the Girhotra family has always had fears of Rathore moving freely. There is definitely a nexus between the political and police system in the state.” (ANI)
