IMPHAL - A migrant labourer was shot dead by suspected militants here on Saturday.
Ten days ago, two migrant laboureres were also killed in a similar manner.
Madan, who worked as a hawker of bread and other confectionary, was gunned down in the afternoon at around 3.30 pm at Sagolband Tera Tongbram Leikai, about four kilometers from Lamphel Police Station.
Boramani Devi, the owner of the confectionary shop, said: ” It happened when we were busy measuring items for our customers. As it was evening time, we don’t really know how it happened.”
“He left after delivering bread at my shop. Then, I saw him talking to one or two people. At first I thought he was having just a casual conversation with them. But suddenly he rushed towards our shop. Then we heard gunshots,” she added.
At least 24 migrants have been killed in Manipur since February this year.
Migrant labourers have said that they would be forced to retaliate if such killings continued. (ANI)
