GUWAHATI - Sleuths of Assam Police have nabbed a youth, suspected to be a cadre of outlawed United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) group and seized explosives from his possession.

Identified as Dharmendra Kalita, he was arrested on Saturday near the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) refinery at Noonmati during a joint routine patrolling of police and CRPF personnel. He was produced before the media persons on Sunday (December 27).

Kalita was found walking along the railway line near the Sector 3 area of refinery complex. On being asked to stop walking by the police, he tried in vain to run away, he was caught later on.

Reports say that the explosives were meant for blasts at the refinery and nearby places.

Though the ULFA’s military strength has waned, it still remains a potent force. (ANI)
