Starbucks settles teen ’sex demands at work case’ outside court

WASHINGTON - Coffee giant Starbucks has reached an out of court settlement with Kati Moore, 20, who had alleged that the company failed to protect her from a sexually exploitative store manager.

Moore claimed that her supervisor Tim Horton, 24, demanded sex almost daily, when she was working with the company at age 16.

The girl’s case had featured in a “20/20″ investigation into the sexual harassment of teens in the workplace, in January, following which Horton was convicted of illegal sex with a minor. He served four months in prison.

Moore then took the fight to the company. She demanded Starbucks to create a policy for protecting teenage employees from sexual harassment

Now, both parties have reached settled out of court for an undisclosed amount, reports ABC News.

Starbucks had released a statement during the “20/20″ investigation.

It read: “These two employees concealed their relationship from Starbucks, which violated company policy. We are confident that the case will ultimately be resolved in finding that Starbucks is not at fault.” (ANI)
