Bar Council Of India Plans New Examination

NEW DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The BCI or the Bar Council of India has declared that the law graduates will be screen with a national level examination which they will have to clear before they can start practicing. The law graduates will also have to shell out INR 1300 before they can sit for this exam from December this year. The exam will be conducted in collaboration with Rainmaker a private agency which will give the required materials for study to the candidates. Gopal Subramaniam, who is the chairman and solicitor of BCI answered queries regarding the selection of a private agency for conducting the test.

Bar Council of India chairman also said that the test will be conducted for evaluating the basic ability of a graduate in law to determine if he can practice or not. The first test will take place on December 5, as he said. The candidates can sit in the test for any number of times. Veerappa Moily, the law minister is supporting BCI in this matter. BCI is all set to set up a Directorate of Legal Education for monitoring and improving legal education in India. It is similar to what the National Commission for Higher Education and Research aims to do. Gopal Subramaniam said that the BCI does not need the nod from the HRD ministry for this effort.

The Bar Council of India chairman also said that BCI is an autonomous body set up by a law enacted in the parliament. The law minister pledged his support to the BCI in this regard and praised its chairman too.
