Sugar prices plummet on ample supply outlook
Sugar prices are dropping amid expectations that global supply will be plentiful for the first time in about two years.
Growers in Brazil are wrapping up a healthy harvest and it appears the monsoon season will benefit growers in India. That has eased concerns about tight supplies.
Sugar prices closed down nearly 5 percent Friday.
Metals, energy and grains prices are mostly falling on a stronger dollar. Commodities are priced in dollars so they are less appealing to foreign investors when the dollar is stronger.
