Kea Management Reappoints Herring Kalua

HONOLULU (GaeaTimes.com)-The UH Board of Regents have approved the reappointment of Christian Veillet and Herring Kalua for the Mauna Kea Management Board. Reportedly each and every Mauna Kea Management Board reappointment is subjected to a total span of four years. So as it stands, the current reappointment shall last till the upcoming year of 2014.

Herring Kalua has over 39 years of experience working with the state Department of Transportation. As of now he happens to be the supervisor for all constructions that takes place on the Hawaii highways. Herring Kalua had been one of the most active members of the Mauna Kea Advisory Committee way back in the year of 1998. During his involvement he contributed in developing the master plan for all major construction works. Christian Veillet on the other hand descends from CFHT (Canada France Hawaii Telescope) which has a proud history of 14 long years. He started off as an resident astronomer in the organization but slowly moved up to be the executive director for CFHT. He is one of the chief brains behind the Mauna Kea astronomical facility.

Mauna Kea Management Board comprises of seven different members who descends from various constituencies and looks upon all matters of interest. The list is long which includes Department of Land and Natural Resources, the native people of the Hawaiian lands, issues concerning environment, commercial activity, education and astronomy. The Mauna Kea Management Board serves as the chief advisory body for the chancellor in charge. They are also focused upon matters concerning the Mauna Kea Science Reserve and looks forward to uplift it’s condition for one and all in the community.
