Summary Box: Google teams up on ’smart’ Web TV
THE PRODUCT: A “smart” TV that lets users conduct searches and view Internet video and information related to the television program that’s on. Or viewers could simply devote the entire TV screen to Web surfing instead of channel surfing.
PARTNERSHIP: Google is providing the software, while Sony will make the TVs with Intel chips, and Logitech will supply a special remote control and wireless keyboard.
AVAILABILITY: This fall in U.S. only at Best Buy stores, with no pricing immediately announced.
