DHAKA, BANGLADESH (GaeaTimes.com)- World Telecom Day which falls on May 17 shall witness Bangladesh Telecommunications minister Raziuddin Ahmed Razu throwing light upon a new VOIP law that is soon to be enforced in the Telecom market. Reportedly, the new law gains ground with the VOIP market which is aiming to make the service available for all major companies across Bangladesh. It was also said that the Telecom Ministry shall go ahead to issue licenses for all major companies of the nation on World Telecom Day.

The World Telecom Day Meet on VOIP shall be held at the National Press Club on May 17. The new law shall make it possible for one and all to make international calls at lower rates. As a matter of fact, currently there are only five companies who makes abundant use of VOIP. They are Getco Telecommunications, M & H Telecom, Bangla Trac Communications Ltd, Novotel Limited alongwith Mir Telecom.

The Telecom Ministry of Bangladesh came up with the proposal on the eve of World Telecom Day which shall be a boost to the revenue model of the operators that is said to be taxed at a rate margin of 54 percent. So in all probability the hike in the cost of VOIP shall curb any and all illegal operations. World Telecom Day shall also witness Bangladesh unveiling its own satellite which have incurred a huge cost of $300-400 billion. Reportedly the minister have asked all public sectors to come and help the government with the funds. It was also said that the Telecom Ministry is planning to set up a second cable connection (Submarine) which shall soon be made available across all public and private sectors. The World Telecom Day holds special importance for the children as the Telecom Ministry has decided to offer 1000 internet connections for them.
