Swimmer’s Everest Plunge

MOUNT EVEREST, (GaeaTimes.com)- Lewis Pugh who happens to an environmental campaigner and a swimmer, is eyeing the Mount Everest as he gears up for his next swimming challenge. Reportedly, the swimmer will be taking up the greatest swimming challenge in his career as he plunges into the spine chilling glacial lake that stretches across the Khumbu Glacier. The Everest challenge is due in the upcoming week but the swimmer had plans for a rehearsal plunge in to the Imja lake. The swimmer felt that it should make him accustomed to the environ and the temperature of the lake. However, the swimmer was forced to call off his practice plunge at the Imja lake because the temperature of the water was 1C along with the air temperature that was calculated to be -20C.
When asked about his greatest challenge ever, the swimmer told the media that it is indeed hard when one has to swim in a glacial lake that is located at 5300m above the sea level. Moreover the existing environs of Mount Everest is one of the biggest challenge as the temperature is the greatest enemy, with the chilling water and the biting frost.
To make matters worse, the swimmer shall be wearing only a speedo as he swims across the lake. It was said that through his swimming challenge he wants to bring the matter of Melting Asian glaciers before one and all. The swimmer feels that this is an alarming issue because the glacier is the major source of water to all major nations of the continent. At the same time he is excited about it and is keeping aside all fears and looking forward to May 23 when he takes his greatest plunge ever.
