Gray Whale Seen At Dana Point Harbor

CALIFORNIA (GaeaTimes.com)- In a recent development that has created sensation among marine biologists a gray whale has been spotted in the Dana Point Harbor. The wayward animal which is almost 35 feet long was seen for the first time in Monday and the viewers assumed it was sick and was very close to death. The residents who live in adjacent locations became pretty excited when they saw the whale swimming slowly in the harbor. In all possibility this is an adult whale and it is yet to be ascertained whether it is female or male. The Whale was first spotted on Monday morning and it swam for an hour and then departed. However, it came back again in the afternoon only to depart within a few hours. The whale reappeared in the harbor by Tuesday morning again and by this time the news had spread among the residents who gathered to see the huge animal.
The residents also started wondering why the gray whale is coming and leaving the harbor so frequently. The marine experts are still observing the whale and they have not concluded whether it is seriously ill or nearing its demise. The phenomenon is exciting as after a long time a gray whale has been spotted outside the Pacific Ocean. The lethargic whale which keeps coming back to the harbor weighs approximately 30 tons as the experts have assumed.
The Gray whales owing to their large dimension can pose threat to the fishing boats in the harbors. Reported a rope is tied to the tail of the whale and it could be the source of his distress.
