RabindraNath Tagore Exhibition Train Unveiled

KOLKATA, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- Today the nation is celebrating the 150th birthday anniversary of legendary poet and writer Rabindranath Tagore. A number of cultural programs are being held in various places of the country to pay tribute to the stalwart poet. The Indian railways are also doing their bit to pay homage to Rabindranath Tagore. Today the union Railway minister Mamata Banerjee will flag off a special exhibition train named Sanskriti Express to commemorate the poet’s 150th birthday anniversary. The train will travel various parts of the country and come back to Kolkata next year on May 8, as the Railway sources have announced.

The train has 5 air conditioned coaches that have been modified at Liluah’s Railway Workshop. The different coaches of the train have separate names. The first coach will have a lot of photographs depicting the life of the great poet. The second coach has been named Gitanjali which will contain the songs and poems composed by the poet. The third coach named ‘Muktodhara’ will show his other literature, while the fourth named Chitralekha will exhibit the paintings of Rabindranath Tagore. The 5th coach named ‘Smaranika’ will sell various artcrafts made in Santiniketan. The five coaches will give the viewers a good idea about the life and achievements of the legendary poet and writer who has played a pivotal role in developing the Bengali literature.

Today the exhibition train will be kept from morning to evening at the Howrah Station’s platform number 22. The train will travel to various parts of the country and the people will get acquainted with the timeless and immortal creations of Rabindranath Tagore.
