Sounds of Arabia festival starts in UAE

Abu Dhabi, May 6 (IANS/WAM) Arabian music festival Sounds of Arabia started in this United Arab Emirates capital Thursday.

The festival, which is being organised by Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) at the Emirates Palace, is dedicated to revive authentic Arab music and singing through a series of musical concerts, lectures and workshops May 6-15.

The opening gala concert named “Sounds of Emirates” was performed by Emirati singer Said Al Salem. This will be followed by a gala performance with Lotfi Bouchnak, Tunisian Sufi singer.

“The current session of the festival forms a very important ring in our chain of initiatives in honouring the great artists,” said Abdulla Al Ameri, director of Culture and Arts Department at ADACH, in a press conference Tuesday.
