AHMEDABAD, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- Swarnim Gujarat witnessed a grand NRG (Non Residential Gujaratis) convention held at the Gujarat University with great pomp and show as Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister inaugurated the event at around 6 p.m. Following that Dr. Kamla Beniwal the Governor and the Speaker Ashok Bhatt addresses all NRGs who have flocked together on the eve of Swarnim Gujarat.

Swarnim Gujarat also witnessed the inaugural speech of NRG Minister Jaynarayan Vyas who was all praises about Swarnim Gujarat and the progress of the state which has been phenomenal and inspiring. He also made a special mention about the Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for his efforts to uplift the conditions of the state. It was said earlier that Swarnim Gujarat shall have only two people holding out the “Swarnim Kalash” and are allowed to make appearance on the stage. Later it was announced that Swarnim Gujarat shall allow five people to hold out the Swarnim Kalash in the event.

Narendra Modi was greeted by the Assamese folks by their traditional bamboo hat. Following that were the Gujaratis coming from Nagaland who greeted him with an ethnic top along with a weapon stick. At the end of the inaugural program and the festivities, the chief Minister set the ground for the grand celebrities of Swarnim Gujarat as he pulled out the ropes to the two huge bells which marked the beginning of the event. Swarnim Gujarat 2010 happens to carry great importance as it marks the golden jubilee of the state of Gujarat. After the inaugural program was over, Swarnim Gujarat started off with its regular celebrations and festivities which carried rich elements of heritage that the state is proud of.
