Summary Box: $100 bill gets a high-tech makeover

CURRENCY REDESIGN: The government on Wednesday unveiled a redesigned $100 bill with a host of new features designed to thwart counterfeiters.

NEW LOOK: Benjamin Franklin is still on the $100 bill but splashes of color have been introduced along with a bright blue 3-D security ribbon and a Liberty Bell design that appears and disappears in an inkwell.

FEB. 10, 2011: The date that the new bills will go into circulation, giving the government time to educate people around the globe to the changes.
