Security forces seize huge cache of arms in Jammu and Kashmir

Poonch (Jammu and Kashmir)Apr 18 (ANI): Security forces in a coordinated extensive surveillance and search operation recovered arms and communication equipments from a hide out in Sawjian sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch District on Sunday.

The spot, from where this cache were unearthed, is close to the Line of Control (LoC).

Among the assorted armament items seized were one AK-47 assault rifle, two magazines of AK-47 assault rifle, 160 live bullets and four Chinese grenades along with communication equipments.

“This operation today, was a joint operation with the Police Station of Mandi. This area is heavily forested, but due to our high vigilance in the area, we busted this hide out during a search operation. We recovered an AK 47 rifle, some magazines and Chinese grenades along with some radio communication equipment,” said Lieutenant Colonel Ashok Rana, Commanding Officer of 40 Rashtriya Rifles.

He also mentioned that during the summer season, there is an increase in the infiltration attempts by the militants from across the border.

“They(militants) are always are trying to infiltrate during this season. But we are very vigilant and we are completely ready for them. I would like to assure you that any attempt of them (militants) to infiltrate from this area would be foiled by us,” added Lt. Col. Ashok Rana. (ANI)
