ILLINOIS (GaeaTimes.com)- The Illinois Department of Revenue has announced that a huge number of taxpayers in the state have still not filed for the tax returns, despite the fact that the Apr 15 deadline is almost over. However, this has not come as much of a surprise to anyone in the department, who feel that this is but natural in a time like this, when the country is still reeling under the effects of the recession, and the government is attempting to beat the recession blues by implementing one relieving scheme after another. In fact, the officials of the department feel, it is partly because of these schemes that the tax payers have not filed their tax returns.

Unemployment in Illinois is still huge, like the rest of the country, and the schemes of the government to balance the economy and to alleviate the burden of taxes upon the countrymen apply to the residents of Illinois too. As a result, according to a spokesperson of the Illinois Department of Revenue, many of the Illinoisans are being exempted from paying taxes, as the amount gets nullified by the unemployment benefits that they are eligible for. The unemployment benefits are part of the special economy stimulus project of the federal government.

Moreover, the economy stimulus scheme has also rendered a huge number of the residents of the state of Illinois eligible for refunds. On the other hand, feel the officials of the Illinois Department of Revenue, it is impossible for many of the residents to file their tax returns, given the high rate of unemployment.
