Summary Box: Dow industrials close above 11,000
DOW MILESTONE: After briefly touching 11,000 Friday, the Dow Jones industrials edged higher Monday to close above 11,000 for the first time since September 2008.
BIG MOVES: The Dow is up 11 percent from its only close below 10,000 this year, which came on Feb. 8. The index is up 68.1 percent from a 12-year low in March last year, though it is still down 22.3 percent from its peak in October 2007.
RISING CONFIDENCE: A loan deal for Greece from European leaders and corporate buyouts in the U.S. raised expectations that the economy will continue to recover.
