OREGON (GaeaTimes.com)- The police and Navy officials in Oregon got an unexpected surprise when they came to know from the regional loggers about the discovery of the wreckage of a Second World War generation Navy combat plane in the region. The remains of the Curtiss SB2C Helldiver aircraft were located in a dense forest in Oregon. The plane presumably crashed after 1945. The team that is investigating the finding has gathered some clues. This model was used a lot by the US Navy during the times of the Second World War. The Navy used this model in particular to attack areas in Japan. It is quite amazing that the remains of the aircraft were not seen by anyone in the last five decades.

The officials of the Navy who have seen the remains of the Curtiss SB2C Helldiver plane are of the opinion that the remains of the two crew members the plane had on board when it crashed, can be found in adjacent locations. The Navy officials also said that this particular model got the nickname of the ‘beast’ because of its capacity to carry strong arsenal. The plane could fly at a speed of 295 mph which in its time was considered to be quite high. It was also capable of carrying bombs and internal torpedoes.

The navy has not revealed the spot where the remains of the Curtiss SB2C Helldiver plane has been found. The remains include parts of its wing, tail and Engine. The officials suspect that the crash was strong enough to melt some of its parts.
