NEW DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The rise in temperature has taken the met experts by surprise and the common man by shock in India. This is barely the end of March and the climate is giving the impression as if it is the peak of summer! The heat wave is giving the people a tough time and the possibility of a decrease in temperature is far away, according to the weather experts. The temperature is hovering over more than 6 to 10 degrees above normal in most parts of the country. North India and Delhi are facing the worst of it. On Monday, the maximum temperature recorded in Delhi was a notch short of the highest ever temperature recorded in March since 1945.
Even the minimum temperature recorded is way above the normal limit. It is quite unprecedented to see the maximum temperature of the day nearing 40 degree mark. March did not bring any rain and that has added to the severity of the heat wave. The doctors warn that the residents may fall ill owing to the extreme heat and suffer from dehydration. The residents in the Capital are wondering what the next few months will bring for them.
Other states of North India are also going through the same condition. Shimla and Himachal Pradesh both recorded warmer temperature for this time of the year. The met officials attribute the excess heat to a western disturbance. Even western states like Gujarat and Mumbai are also reeling under heat waves. The unlikeliness of any rainfall has worsened the situation and there is no respite from the heat in the next few days.
