Summary Box: More domains coming in native scripts
THE NEED: Internet addresses written entirely in scripts other than the Latin alphabet, to make the Internet friendlier to users with little or no knowledge of English.
CLEARANCE: Four countries and two territories won preliminary approval this week, joining four others cleared in January.
MORE WORK: Proposals from China and Taiwan require further review. The reason isn’t political: The Chinese language can be written in two ways, creating potential confusion.
