NORTH CAROLINA (GaeaTimes.com)- The North Carolina resident Cynthia Shackelford, wife of Allan Shackelford has ultimately won the case against her husband’s alleged mistress Anne Lundquist. The wife sued the mistress at a North Carolina court, for charges of “alienation of affection”. The charge of “alienation of affection” is a very old law which is maintained still at some of the states in United States. The North Carolina jury last week passed the decision in favor of Cynthia Shackelford and ordered the alleged mistress Anne Lundquist to pay in total $9 million to Cynthia Shackelford. Anne Lundquist will need to pay $5 million as compensatory damages and another $4 million as punitive damages.
Cynthia Shackelford who split from her husband after the revelation back in the year 2005, has maintained that she had sued her husband’s mistress because the later knew of his marriage. According to her it is Anne Lundquist who has seduced her husband and become the reason of the culmination of the 33 years of happy married life. According to her, Anne Lundquist should have restrained herself from entering into a relationship with Allan Shackelford. However, Allan Shackelford has reportedly mentioned that the couple had a rocky married life and was unhappy in their marriage. The split after 33 years of marriage has left Cynthia Shackelford devastated.
Cynthia Shackelford became suspicious of her husband’s behavior back in the year 2004 when he used to return home late. He also had unaccountably high credit bills which made the wife to hire a spy to track the movement of her husband. According to her the spy told her of the relationship Allan Shackelford and Anne Lundquist were sharing in secret. It was after this, that the wife sued the mistress.
