NEW DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The residents of Delhi are getting to know what global warming means much more than the residents staying in other parts of India. On Sunday, the capital of India recorded maximum temperature for March for the previous six years. The mercury shot up to record a temperature of 39.2 degree Celsius which made many people staying indoors. The Indian Meteorological Department said that the temperature was more than normal. The met office has predicted that the city residents will not get any relief from high temperatures either on Monday and Tuesday. Very soon, the highest temperature may cross the mark of 40 degree Celsius.

Even the minimum temperature is hovering above the normal limit in Delhi, as revealed by the IMD officials. It is quite amazing to think that even a few weeks back the residents had to cope with chilling winter temperature and the summer has set in really fast. The summer in Delhi is usually harsh since there is hardly any large water body near the capital. The residents have to resort to air conditioners and coolers to beat the searing heat of Delhi in summer.

The temperature rise is rather steep and untimely according to the met officials. The month of March usually does not see the maximum temperature crossing past the 40 degree mark. The last time that happened in 1940. If the early indications are anything to go by, the summer in Delhi this year will be a really scorching one. The difference in the maximum and minimum recorded temperature of the day is really steep.
