Russian woman found dead in Goa

PANAJI - A 33-year-old Russian woman was found dead in her room in a resort in Goa on Wednesday evening.
The deceased, identified as Elena Velichq was found dead in her room, where she was staying alone, at around 10 p.m.
The Anjuna Police Station was informed about the incident by the hotel staff that had opened her room with a master key when she did not respond to their calls in the evening.
A senior police official said that the cause of death would be known once the post-mortem examination reports arrive.
“In the evening, we had received information from this resort, Mello Rosa. They said that this Russian woman, Elena, is around 33 years, was staying with them since last five to six days. Whole day when she had not come out, they opened the room with the master key and found her dead on the bed,” said Ravinder S. Yadav, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Goa.
“Our officers have visited the place and now the body is being shifted to the Goa Medical College for post-mortem examination. The cause of death will only be known after the examination. As of now, no suspect has been found,” he added.
The Russian national had arrived in India six days ago on a tourist visa, and was scheduled to return on March 24. (ANI)
