NEW YORK (GaeaTimes.com)- Every year in spring, half of the world moves its clock sticks an hour further and it has almost become an annual ritual. The daylight saving time will begin on Sunday, Mar 14. According to reports, the U.S. Standard time will be changed at 2 am. The time change will be embraced by the Wall Street along with other offices. However, those in Hawaii, Arizona, and Iceland will have no time change and continue with the their present Standard Time configuration.
The daylight saving time change is done every spring and reverted in autumn. This year the daylight saving time will continue until Nov 7, when the time will be reverted an hour back. The Alaskan legislative is trying to pass a bill that will abandon the annual practice.
The daylight saving time according to some researchers, does not help much in conserving electricity. It was adopted towards the first half of the 20th century, reportedly during the Second World War, by Germany to decrease consumption of energy at night. This practice was then adopted by many nations all over the world who have adapted the practice according to their own need and convenience.
While the practice of daylight saving has been found to decrease road accident, it has been reported that on the Monday following the spring time change the productivity of every firm is affected due to the time leap. The daylight saving time also holds good for people who love out door sports, but for those who love evening parties, this leads to loss of an hour. However, since UK will embrace the daylight saving time 2010 two weeks later, there will be confusion regarding the time scheme of television shows and live broadcast of games.
