BANGALORE - A library in Bangalore consisting of games, toys, CDs and books is gaining popularity among children.

The word ‘library’ usually connotes a number of bookshelves filled with books and when a child is advised to visit a library, they are less than thrilled with the idea.

However, this one-of-a-kind toy library, named ‘Kids’ Gurukul’, has caught fancy of the kids in the city.

The idea behind the concept was to put a halt on the amount of money spend on toys by the parents.

“Me as a parent felt that we spend so much on buying toys. Not me alone, most of the parents feel that instead of spending on toys, which is used for only three to four, we have something of this kind where we can rent it out and increase the curiosity of the children by issuing one puzzle or one game or one CD in one week, and can give it back and continue their curiosity level… that is what made me think of this unique idea,” said Roopa Vittal, library owner.

Meanwhile, parents have hailed the concept of this toy library.

“This is a new concept and a very good concept as one doesn’t have to buy a lot of toys. Once you become a member, a child can enjoy all kind of toys,” said Sri Kant, a parent.

The library owners refresh the library’s stock every three months with new toys. (ANI)
