NEW DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The Delhi workers have a reason to feel happy about. The Delhi cabinet gave its nod to a hike in the pay scale of semi skilled, skilled as well as unskilled workers on Monday. The hike ranges up to 33 percent, which is quite a positive development for these workers. As per this new pay structure, the non-technical supervisors and clerical workers who get paid on per day basis will be entitled to this hike. Shiela Dixit, the Chief Minister of Delhi said in her statement that after the new wage rates are implemented, the workers will find it less difficult to make the ends meet in the times of inflation. As per her claim, the minimum wages in Delhi cannot be matched by any other state of India.
As per the minimum wage hike in Delhi, the daily pay scale of the unskilled workers will go to Rs.203 from the existing Rs.160. For the semi skilled workers, the per day payment would be Rs 248 instead of Rs 225. For the skilled workers the minimum monthly wage now will be Rs 6,448. It was confirmed by a Delhi Government spokesperson. The hike will be implemented shortly.
A person who is a graduate can now earn a minimum amount of Rs 7,020 per month as per the increased minimum wage rate in Delhi. The wage hike comes after the Union budget which drew the flak of the lower middle class for hike in the price of fuels and some not so people friendly steps.
