Lincoln Tunnel Closure Upsets Traffic

NEW JERSEY (GaeaTimes.com)- Lincoln Tunnel, which is considered one of the busiest out bound tunnel, succumbed to a pothole which demanded immediate repair on Monday evening. Commuters had to face a lot of trouble as two lanes of the tunnel were closed and only buses were allowed to leave the city through the tunnel for a long time. Those who took cars were badly affected as the cars were diverted to the Holland Tunnel and also towards the George Washington Bridge.
According to reports, a huge pothole developed near the south bound Exit 15X which needed fast repair as it might have caused a serious problem to the commuters. The New Jersey turnpike authority spokesperson Joe Orlando said that repair work was started immediately around 4PM. The entire construction work took more than two hours and according to reports, around 6:30n PM the Lincoln Tunnel was partially opened. Monday evening however, turned out to be a nightmare for the Americans who had to take the paths connecting to Lincoln Tunnel.
However, the closure of the tunnel during the peak hours of traffic rush caused major traffic disruption and delays. According to reports, traffic stoppage time was more than an hour at New Jersey while the effect of the tunnel closure was felt at Manhattan also where the traffic delay was half an hour. The Lincoln Tunnel is one of the major tunnels which connects many places and is used by the commuter to leave the city. It is being reportedly said that the repair work has been completed and the tunnel will be opened soon for public use and commotion.
