Judicial custody of Iranian students extended till Tuesday

BANGALORE - The judicial custody of two Iranian women, who were arrested for assaulting a male policeman after failing the breathalyser test for drunk driving on Thursday night has been extended till Tuesday by a local court.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Rajiv Gowda posted the hearing of the bail application of Farima (26) and her friend Azar Fasle (29) on Tuesday (February 23).

U G Prabhu, the defence lawyer for the accused Iranian students said, “I argued for the bail petition. It has been posted for orders on Tuesday. They will be in the judicial custody till then.”

The accused Farima and Fasle were nabbed on Thursday, the former for punching Traffic sub-inspector Ganesh Rao and biting his hand and Fasle for pushing a press photographer, resulting in his camera being broken.

The two women were staying at the international college.

The police have also seized their passports and driving licenses. (ANI)
