Pak security forces kill two militants involved in GHQ attack

FAISLABAD - Pakistani security officials have reportedly killed two suspected terrorists, who were involved in the General Headquarters (GHQ) attack in Rawalpindi last year, in an encounter here.

According to sources, the intelligence officials and police commandoes intercepted four militants in the Civil Lines area, out of which two were eliminated and the other two were apprehended.

A huge cache of arms was also recovered from their possession which included eight hand-grenades, one Kalashnikov and four pistols, The Daily Times reports.

The militants who were killed, Umer Kundi and Adil Ali, were also wanted in connection with the attack on the Manawan Police Training Centre and the Rescue-15 building in Lahore last year.

It may be noted that one Afghan militant Hijrat Ullah, was nabbed alive during the commando operation at the Manawan Police academy.

While Muhammad Aqeel, alias Dr Usman, was nabbed by the security forces during the GHQ attack.

Dr. Usman had revealed that the prime motive of attacking Pakistan military’s headquarters was to take a large number of army personnel hostage and ask the government to release hundreds of militants in exchange of them. (ANI)
