COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA (GaeaTimes.com)- The United States Army has been probing claims for the past two months which allege that several soldiers were involved in attempting to poison the food supply at Fort Jackson in South Carolina. However, a spokesperson of the basic training post has revealed that no valid information has been available as yet to authenticate the allegations.

According to few major news sources, five Muslim soldiers who are part of the ploy to poison the soldiers at Fort Jackson, were taken into custody during the month of December last year. It has also been stated that all the soldiers were part of an Arabic translation program and used Arabic as their primary language. Meanwhile, Army’s Criminal Investigation Division spokesperson Chris Grey has revealed that the probe began since the allegations surfaced two months back and the investigation is still continuing. At the same time, Chris Grey also stressed that although details validating the claims are yet to come to light, the Army is considering the matter with utmost importance. Whether the suspected soldiers who had been reportedly arrested are still being held in custody has not been divulged.

Meanwhile, Fort Jackson released a statement on Thursday which confirmed that five soldiers were being investigated for possible verbal threats against their colleagues in the training camps. However, it has been emphasized that the entire Fort Jackson was never under the threat of any danger. Army spokesperson Lt. Col. Christopher Garver has added that intrinsic details about the probe could be not divulged just yet as the matter is still under investigation.
