Report on 2009 Thane train mishap submitted to Centre

NEW DELHI - The Commissioner of Railway Safety, Central Circle, Mumbai, Sudhir Kumar, has submitted a preliminary report to the Central Government with regard to the October 23, 2009 train mishap in Thane that claimed the lives of two persons and injured four others.

According to the report, the derailment of K-37 Down suburban local train occured due to the collapse of a 40 metre concrete girder of under construction ROB of Thane Municipal Corporation between Mulund and Thane stations.

The report confirms that the mishap occurred at about 10.45 a.m.

It says that apart from the two persons killed and four injured, eight others received simple injuries.

The Central Government will now go through the report before finally accepting its findings. (ANI)
