Summary Box: Dish ads to stay on air, for now

KEEP ON FIGHTING: A federal judge on Tuesday denied a temporary restraining order banning Dish Network Corp. ads that ask consumers “Why Pay More?” for video service from rival satellite operator DirecTV Inc.

THE ISSUE: DirecTV says the ads are false and misleading because they compare two different tiers of programming. Dish claims its most basic service is $24 a month cheaper than a comparable DirecTV product.

WHAT NOW: Ads can continue to run for now. DirecTV says it will press on with its lawsuit despite failing to win an immediate halt to the ads.
