Sahai highlights the need for a second green revolution in India

NEW DELHI - Union Food Processing Industries Minister Subodh Kant Sahai has stressed the need for a second Green Revolution in India, and emphasized the role of the food processing industries in ushering it.

Sahai expressed these views during a recent visit to France, where he met French Agriculture Minister Bruno Le Maire.

He said French companies can play a major role in revolutionizing the Indian food sector, and also proposed that French food laboratories could help to enhance food quality standards in India.

Maire stressed the need for greater cooperation in the field of food processing and said time has come to identify specific sectors in food processing.

He further said food processing sector will have to play a vital role in doubling bilateral trade targets.

Sahai also met French Foreign Trade Minister Anne-Marie Idrac, where both stressed the need for strengthening bilateral cooperation.

India should work more in the retail sector to attract French companies, the French minister said. (ANI)
