WASHINGTON (GaeaTimes.com)- Mullah Abdul Ghani Barabar, one of the top Taliban leader, has been captured from Karachi after an operation was jointly carried by United States authorities and Pakistani agencies. The arrest of the Taliban leader is being viewed as a significant success for the Obama administration, as Mullah Abdul Ghani Barabar is said be one of the leading member of the terrorist outfit.

A senior official has revealed to a news source that the operation that led to the capture of Mullah Abdul Ghani Barabar was an enormous success. Moreover, the Taliban leader’s capture is being considered as a major achievement as it is expected to reveal vital information about the Taliban forces. Following his arrest, the Taliban leader is reportedly being confined in Karachi, where he is being subjected to interrogation by the U.S. forces as well as the Pakistani authorities. Whether the leader of the Afghanistan based terrorist group was actually talking to the authorities is yet to be validated although officials believe that he could furnish details that might help to track other Taliban leaders.

Mullah Abdul Ghani Barabar is considered to be a close aide of Osama bin Laden and is second in command to Mullah Mohammad Omar, who is the terrorist outfit’s supreme commander. Meanwhile, the news source which revealed the news of Mullah Abdul Ghani Barabar’s capture has added that it had access to the information since last week but was asked not to make the news public by White House.
