Maoist sympathisers must condemn Sealdah attack: Chidambaram

NEW DELHI - Union Home Minister P Chidambaram has said that Maoist sympathisers must condemn Monday night’s attack on a paramilitary camp in West Bengal in which at least 24 security personnel were killed.
Chidambaram said Maoists sympathisers must reject the attack as an outrageous attempt to overawe state authority.
The attack on a paramilitary camp at Sealdah in West Midnapore district has prompted Chidambaram to say that all elements opposing Maoist violence must join hands to end the Naxal threat engulfing various parts of the country.
Maoist leader Kishenji claimed responsibility for the attack saying it was an answer to Chidambaram’s ‘Operation Green Hunt’.
The attack came barely a week after Chidambaram’s meeting in Kolkata to draw up a joint strategy to counter the Maoists threat. (ANI)
