NEW DELHI - The Telangana Committee headed by Justice B N Srikrishna held its first meeting here on Saturday.

The meeting is understood to have discussed a roadmap to proceed on the issues mentioned in the terms of reference, which were announced on Friday.

Some of the student’s groups tried to hold a protest out side Vigyan Bhavan the venue of the meeting, but police detained the protestors.

There was a huge police presence outside the meeting venue.

On February 3, the Centre constituted a committee, nearly two months after Union Home Minister P Chidambaram’s announcement that the Centre would initiate steps for the formation of a separate Telangana state.

The Committee is expected to hold wide-ranging consultations with political parties, civil societies and other outfits on the Telangana issue.

Meanwhile, Osmania University Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) called a day long shut down on Saturday in Telangana region in protest against the terms of reference announced by the Centre. (ANI)
