NEW DELHI - Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lal Krishna Advani on Thursday said that the BJP would raise the issue of spiralling price rise in Parliament.
On the sidelines of a function to mark the 42nd death anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, Advani said, “Such kind of dharna (sit-in demonstration) on a massive scale and effective way has not taken place for a long time and many people put forth their opinions.”
“Not just outside the Parliament, but we will raise the issue of price rise even inside the Parliament because such steep rise in essential commodities was never experienced by the common people,” added Advani.
The BJP held a massive rally in New Delhi on Wednesday against price rise with BJP President Nitin Gadkari accusing the Central Government of presiding over a Rs 2.8 lakh crore ‘big scandal’ by allowing commodity exchange.
Hundreds of party supporters joined the protest at Jantar Mantar as the BJP alleged that the government’s ‘wrong’ economic policies were the main reason behind spiralling prices of essential commodities.
Sushma Swaraj, the leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha was also present at the protest along with a host of other senior BJP leaders including Murli Manohar Joshi and Arun Jaitley. (ANI)
