CWC to discuss price rise issue

NEW DELHI - The Congress Working Committee (CWC) will discuss the spiraling price rise at a meeting today, as the Congress President Sonia Gandhi has declared it a matter of ‘high concern’.

Gandhi will preside over the meeting, which will be attended by several Congress Party Chief Ministers.

This first meeting in the New Year is aimed at dealing with the issue of food inflation.

Party General Secretary Janardan Dwivedi hinted at the current politicial situation being discussed.

Friday’s meeting is deemed significant as it is being held a day before a Chief Ministers conference convened by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.he meeting is also being held just three weeks before the presentation of the General Budget.

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi is not attending the meeting as he is visiting Mumbai. (ANI)
