Maoist killed in Chhattisgarh encounter

NARAYAPURA - After a prolonged encounter, security personnel gunned down a suspected Maoist and also seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpura region.
Briefing the media about the incident Narayanpura Superintendent of Police Rahul Bhagat said, acting of a tip off, police launched a massive search operation in a forest area under the Benur Police Station of Narayanpur.
The operation commenced late on Friday night and resulted in exchange of fire that continued throughout the night.
“We formed a police team and surrounded the area. We cordoned off the forest area and a meeting was going on… All of a sudden the firing started and it continued the entire night… When we searched the area in the morning, we discovered a body and huge cache of arms and other material from the vicinity which could have been in the possession of the Maoists,” Bhagat said.
